This poem is full of judgment.
It saw what I was wearing.
This poem knows I was drunk.
It wonders if I deserved it.
This poem has chased me for decades,
chest heaving,
wanting to ask
why
I didn’t shut the window.

This is so sad and haunting. The first line sums up the feel of the poem completely and I wish it wasn’t so – there seems no room for it not to have been her fault.
